Canyoning is concentrated around wet ravines and waterfalls, especially on São Miguel. Read the fitness, swimming and equipment requirements rather than choosing by photos. The Azores are nine separate islands, so the departure island matters more than the distance shown on a map. Compare the meeting point, transfers, duration and cancellation terms before booking; an activity on Pico or Terceira is not a practical day trip from São Miguel unless an inter-island flight or ferry is explicitly included.
